In today's Homeland Security world, information is vital.
Specifically, understanding the many resources available
and how each of those resources can uniquely benefit
an agency. It is often difficult to fully understand
Federal grant programs and even more critical, how to
maximize the benefits of these programs. Critical Incident
Solutions understands each of the six major Federal grant
programs available to agencies and is committed to assisting
agencies in the effective allocation of grant funds to
maximize potential.
State
Homeland Security Program (SHSP): this grant provides
financial assistance directly to each of the states and
territories to prevent, respond to, and recover from
acts of terrorism. It supports the implementation of
the State Homeland Security Strategy to address the identified
planning, equipment, training, and exercise needs. In
addition, it supports the implementation of NIMS, Homeland
Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) 8: National
Preparedness, and the National Response Plan (NRP).
Urban
Areas Security Initiative (UASI): this grant provides
financial assistance to address the unique planning,
equipment, training, and exercise needs of high risk
urban areas, and to assist them in building an enhanced
and sustainable capacity to prevent, respond to, and
recover from threats or acts of terrorism. All funding
is expended based on Urban Area Homeland Security Strategies
and allowable costs for the urban areas comply with FY05
SHSP.
Law
Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program (LETPP): this
grant will provide law enforcement communities with funds
to support the following prevention activities: information
sharing to preempt terrorist attacks, target hardening
to reduce vulnerability of selected high value targets,
recognition and mapping of potential or developing threats,
counter terrorism and security planning, interoperable
communications and the interdiction of terrorisms before
they can execute a threat or intervention activities
that prevent terrorists from executing a threat.
Citizen
Corps Program (CCP): this program is a grass-roots
initiative to actively involve all citizens in hometown
security through personal preparedness, training, and
volunteer service. The funding will be used to support
CCP councils with efforts to engage citizens in preventing,
preparing for, and responding to all-hazards. This includes
planning and evaluation, public education and communication,
training, participation in exercises, providing proper
equipment to citizens with a role in response and management
of Citizen Council volunteer programs and activities.
Emergency
Management Performance Grants (EMPG): funding will
support comprehensive emergency management at the state
and local levels and to encourage the improvement of
mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities
for all hazards. DHS is responsible for leading and supporting
the nation in a comprehensive, risk-based, all-hazards
emergency management program. A primary means of ensuring
the development and maintenance of such a program is
funding to states through the EMPG program. Funds may
also be used to support activities contributing to the
capability to manage consequences of acts of terrorism.
Metropolitan
Medical Response System (MMRS): funding will support
MMRS jurisdictions in further enhancement and sustainment
of their integrated, systematic mass casualty incident
preparedness to respond to mass casualty events during
the first hours of a response, the time crucial to lifesaving
and population protection, until significant external
assistance can arrive. MMRS provides the planning, organizing,
training and equipping concepts, principles and techniques
which enhances local jurisdictions' preparedness to respond
to the range of mass casualty incidents.
